CHRIS KEMP has lived locally for 50 years, the past 8 in Petworth, becoming the new Chair of Petworth Town Council in May 2014. Whilst responsible for Council meetings, he is ex-officio on all PTC committees.
He believes in close collaboration between the town’s social and commercial organizations to create a vibrant, flourishing community and is active in Petworth Business Association, the Christmas Event Group, Petworth Vision and Petworth Neighbourhood Development Plan.
ROGER HANAUER a Byworth resident for 7 years has been serving on the Petworth Town Council for the last 5 months and on the Petworth Society committee for 3 years.
Roger is concerned that any future development should be in keeping with the area including starter homes for the young and better facilities for the Town’s young people.
DAVID BURDEN BEM a Sussex farmer, for many years a Northchapel Parish Councillor, but now living in the Petworth area and serving as a Petworth Town Councillor on the Traffic & Planning Committee and represents PTC on the Board of the Southdown National Park Authority.
David’s passions are rural, social and economic issues.
ROB EVANS a Chartered Surveyor and Business Consultant, living in Petworth for the last 8 years.
Rob has a desire to help Petworth preserve the best of our beautiful town, but also meet the considerable future changes and challenges facing Petworth over the next few years.
NEVILLE FOX a local man having lived in Petworth over 50 years, is a Chartered Surveyor and Company Director working in the building industry.
Neville has served on Petworth Town Council since 1996 and is currently Chairman of the Traffic & Planning Committee.
JULIET FYNES a long standing Town Councillor, serving on the planning sub-committee and Petworth Vision, is particularly concerned with traffic and public transport and for many years produced Petworth Pages.
She is keen to preserve and enhance the unique character of the town.
Juliet supports initiatives to provide young people with good facilities and affordable homes.
ROSA PAWSEY moved to Petworth in 2006, and has been a Petworth Town Councillor since 2012. She has been on the Finance and General Purposes Committee, and is a Council member of the Petworth Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.
Additionally she helps at Petworth Food Bank. Rosa is interested in helping ensure that Petworth Town Council can effectively implement its five year plan to improve facilities in our town for all sections of our community.
MICHAEL PEET moved to Petworth almost 7 years ago and together with his wife Nicole, opened the Coco Café & Sugar Lounge. He currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Petworth Business Association, and two-years ago joined a group of volunteers to establish Petworth Film House.
Michael is Co-Founder of Aisle7, Inc., a health & wellness Technology Company, headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
TONY ROGERS. Whilst working in Notting Hill, London as a Surveyor and Estate Agent Tony simply loves living in Petworth and has been resident here for 35 years.
He is currently running a Property Management Company, but is keen to contribute to the Town Council, and wishes to support any creative initiative which further enhances the Petworth community
ELIZABETH SINGLETON graduated from York University, before forging a career in the fashion industry and then taking a career break to raise her family.
Having lived in West Sussex for nearly 30 years, in 2012 Liz and her three daughters moved to Petworth, where she has since thrown herself into Petworth’s vibrant community life, demonstrating her own commitment to the town by opening her Sorella Clothing shop at Easter 2015.
CARRY SMITH moved to Petworth from Cranleigh in 2011, having previously met her husband, Adrian, in Duncton in 1997.
Carry says “Petworth is the best place in the world to live.” Transport, lorries, speeding cars are issues she feels strongly about and feature high up on her agenda of things which need to be addressed in Petworth.
ALAN COPUS and his wife have lived in Petworth for nearly 5 years having previously been in Plaistow and Pulborough for 40 years.
He is a qualified Management Accountant but now retired. He has many years of business experience at senior management level in very large companies which enables him to actively contribute, in particular, to the Town Council’s financial and commercial initiatives.
STEVEN MEAKIN moved to Byworth 3 years ago. Now living in Petworth, Steve has a desire to be part of the development of the town focussing especially on further developing links with the Primary School.
Steve moved to the south east 8 years ago taking position as a Deputy Head Teacher in a school in Wokingham. Now a Head Teacher in Surrey, Steve is enjoying the challenges the role brings, in shaping the lives of the pupils at his school.
JIM SCALLON moved to Petworth in 2015 with his wife Marilyn and daughter Marianne, and works from home part time, as a geologist, after spending many years working overseas.
As a new arrival in Petworth, he would like to contribute practical help and support in the running and development of the town wherever he can be of best use.
JENNIFER THORPE has lived in Petworth for the last 13 years and she has a keen interest in helping to improve and develop the facilities of Petworth for local residents; she is particularly committed to developing and promoting the town’s youth, sports and recreational facilities.. She has spent the past year working with a group of volunteers reviving Petworth Park Cricket Club in the role of Junior Cricket Co-ordinator. She is also on the committee of Kaleidoscope Pre-School.
She has spent the last 18 years working for Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service in Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex.
