Petworth Town Council
We are responsible for managing, or alerting the appropriate authorities, to issues in our immediate local environment – such as:
- the recreation grounds and the allotments
- our streets and public spaces – are the public seats and bus shelters in order? shall we have lights at Christmas, and the hanging baskets and flower tubs in summer? are there potholes in the road, and so on
- some street lights
- the CCTV in the main car park
- liaises with the responsible authorities on traffic issues
- comments to the South Downs National Park Authority on planning applications in PTC area, and liaises with various important local authorities such as the police, and with the higher layers of government CDC and WSCC
- led the development of the Neighbourhood Plan for our area, to achieve the very best for the town in future years
- has groups working on issues of relevance to the town – such as Neighbourhood Plan Working Group and The Christmas Event working group
- can award small grants to local organisations for the benefit of the community
- and through co-operation with local organisations tries to facilitate the best for our community.
